What advantages does Acupressure have over massage therapy?

If you like regular massage, you’ll love Acupressure. During an acupressure session, pressure is applied to specific energetic pathways and is used to relieve both muscle tension and improve circulation of calm, restorative energy. It’s like a supercharged massage. You will leave feeling like you just got up from a long nap, refreshed, and clear-minded.

What is the origin of Acupressure therapy?

The oldest known text specifically on acupuncture points, the Systematic Classic of Acupuncture, dates back to 282 a.d. Acupressure is the non-invasive form of acupuncture, as Chinese physicians determined that stimulating points on the body with massage and pressure could be effective for treating certain problems. One legend has it that acupuncture and acupressure evolved as early Chinese healers studied the wounds of Chinese warriors, noting that certain points on the body created helpful healing results when stimulated.

What are the benefits of Acupressure therapy?

Acupressure therapy can increase energy and feelings of well-being, reduce stress, and stimulate the immune system. Acupressure therapy can also be very effective both as prevention and as a treatment for many health conditions, including headaches, general aches and pains, arthritis, nervous tension, menstrual cramps, sinus problems, sprains, and tennis elbow, among others.

Which type of therapy session is best for me?

If you need a tune-up, go for the sixty-minute session. If you feel run-down, and tired, go for the 90-minute session. Go for the Acupressure/Oil treatment if you want muscular relief and relaxation. Because oil is slippery, pressure is first applied to a specific point and then the pressure is applied in a sliding fashion along a muscle group; best for working out tight knotted muscles. Go for the Acupressure dry treatment if you like firm pressure applied for longer periods of time. Since it’s not slippery, the pressure is applied, then moved a bit and reapplied. So it’s a different feel, punctuated pressure is the best description. Most clients prefer the Acupressure/Oil type of treatment.

How is the session tailored to my specific needs?

Our goal is to provide the best services, as such, we provide a short questionnaire at booking that allows you to communicate your preferences such as pressure levels, areas requiring more focus, areas to avoid, and type of oil (or none) used in therapy.
